Flourish book!

I recently came across this book in some posts and when I did some research online found out that it was out of print and over $800 on Amazon.com!!!  Then I found this site:

Don't try and sell it, but for personal use...you can learn a lot here!

Enjoy,

Thank you!

I just wanted to thank everyone who came out to my 2 classes (Introduction to Calligraphy & Illumination and Accessibility Hour with Li) on Saturday at the Southern Region Scriptorium & Heraldic Symposium!  It had been a while since I taught and it was fun to see everyone!  Remember, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me!

And just in review here were some cool links to check out (on the third handout I gave everyone in the C&I class).

Novice Schola

Today I had fun teaching my intro to Calligraphy & Illumination class :)  It was nice to share information with new people interested in the arts.

Also, I took Mistress Alayne's Accessibility Hour to learn more about accessibility in the SCA...and lo and behold, I'm not her Southern Region Deputy.  Look out for me at future events to discuss accessibility.

Thanks!
Li

2012 Backlog Scroll

I meant to post this last year, I just never got around to it.  This is a backlog scroll that I did in 2012 for a Viking persona.  I have to find the words, and post them when I get a chance.

Please forgive me for posting it sideways.  I'm having technical difficulties!

Ostgardr Schola

I had a great time teaching at the Ostgardr schola this past weekend and taking all the other classes...Mistress Eleanor Catlyng's intro class, Dolsalena's Gilding and painting class and Niccolo's knotwork for beginner's class.

Thank you everyone! I had a blast. I'll hopefully see some of you around.

Happy Scribing,
Li

upcoming class

Greetings,
I will be teaching Calligraphy 101 at Ostgardr Schola in Yonkers, NY on November 5, 2011.

Details here.

Here is a class description:
Interested in becoming a scribe? Don’t know where to start? Calligraphy is just one component of a scroll in the SCA. Together, there 3 major sections: the illumination (painting part of the scroll), the calligraphy (pretty handwriting) and the words (text of the scroll). This workshop will focus on calligraphy, discussing some tools and offering an introduction to three basic hands: Italic, Uncial and Batarde.

I hope to see you there!
